Connecting Email Sources
Connect Gmail or an Aplyr Inbox so Aplyr can auto-track applications and read verification codes — and learn how to manage multiple accounts.

- Aplyr reads your application emails to auto-track confirmations and read verification codes for Quick Apply and Autopilot.
- You have two source options: Gmail (your real inbox) and the Aplyr Inbox (a dedicated @inbox.aplyr.co address that keeps applications out of your personal mail).
- You can connect both at once — up to two Gmail accounts plus one Aplyr Inbox — and pick which one Aplyr uses for verification codes.
Connecting an email source is what turns your Tracker from a manual list into a self-updating one. Once a source is connected, confirmation and interview emails thread onto the matching application automatically, and ATS codes get read for you during applies.
How to connect an email source
- Go to Settings → Integrations. You'll see two cards: Gmail and Aplyr Inbox.
- To connect Gmail, click Connect on the Gmail card. Aplyr connects using a Google-issued app password — paste your address and the 16-character app password, then click Connect Gmail. (This requires 2-Step Verification on your Google account.)
- To create an Aplyr Inbox instead, type a username on the Aplyr Inbox card (it becomes you@inbox.aplyr.co) and click Create once the name shows as available.
- When a source is connected, its card shows a green Connected pill and the address. That's it — Aplyr starts tracking from here.

Gmail vs. the Aplyr Inbox
Both sources do the same core job — auto-track applications and read verification codes — but they fit different habits:
- Gmail watches your real inbox, so it catches applications you submit anywhere, including ones outside Aplyr. It's the best choice if you want one place that already receives all your job mail. Aplyr never sends email or modifies your inbox.
- Aplyr Inbox is a dedicated @inbox.aplyr.co address you use as your contact email when you apply. It keeps recruiter mail and confirmations out of your personal inbox entirely. It's available on Pro and Ultra, and it's optional — you can disable it anytime (which permanently deletes the address and its mail).
📌 Note Aplyr never uses your account sign-up email as a source. Tracking and verification codes only ever come from a Gmail you connect or an Aplyr Inbox you create.

Choosing your verification source
If you've connected more than one source, tell Aplyr which one to read codes from. On Settings → Integrations, under Additional settings, use the verification source picker to select either your Gmail or your Aplyr Inbox. Whichever you pick is where Aplyr looks for ATS codes during Quick Apply and Autopilot.
⚠️ Warning Apply with the same email you set as your verification source. If you apply with your Aplyr Inbox but point verification at Gmail, the code lands somewhere Aplyr isn't watching and the apply can stall. Learn more in How Aplyr reads verification codes.
Managing connected accounts from the Tracker
Open the Tracker and open the Connected Inboxes view to see your Aplyr Inbox and every Gmail account in one place. From here you can:
- Connect Gmail or Add another — you can have up to two Gmail accounts connected at the same time.
- Toggle a Gmail between Visible and Hidden to filter which account's applications show in your Tracker. Use Show all or Hide all for quick switches.
- Disconnect or delete a source. Deleting can optionally remove the applications synced from that inbox, too.

💡 Tip Hiding a Gmail only filters your Tracker view — it doesn't disconnect the account or stop tracking. Applications you submitted through Quick Apply always stay visible no matter which inboxes you hide.
Good to know
- Connecting a Gmail for the first time? Aplyr can also scan your existing mail to backfill past applications — see Scanning Gmail for past applications.
- If you ever see a Reconnect Gmail warning, your app password or access expired. Reconnect from the same Gmail card.
- Disconnecting a Gmail revokes Aplyr's access; the next time you connect, you'll go through the setup again.
