Quick Apply vs. Autopilot

Quick Apply submits one job on demand; Autopilot applies continuously and hands-free. Here's how to choose and how they work together.

  • Quick Apply submits a single job the moment you click it β€” perfect for that one role you really want.
  • Autopilot runs in the background, continuously finding matches and applying for you so you don't have to.
  • They share the same profile, resume, and email setup, so you can use both β€” hand-pick a few standouts while Autopilot keeps your volume up.

Both tools get you applied with Aplyr; the difference is how much you do yourself. Quick Apply is deliberate and one-off. Autopilot is hands-off and continuous. Most people end up using a mix of the two.

How to choose

  1. Ask how involved you want to be. If you want to pick each job yourself, lean on Quick Apply. If you'd rather set preferences once and let Aplyr work, choose Autopilot.
  2. Think about volume. For a handful of dream roles, Quick Apply is ideal. To apply broadly and consistently every day, Autopilot does the heavy lifting.
  3. Consider your time. Quick Apply is ideal when you're actively browsing; Autopilot keeps applications going while you're busy or away.
  4. Remember you don't have to pick just one β€” you can run Autopilot in the background and still Quick Apply anything special you spot.

When to use Quick Apply

Quick Apply submits one application instantly from Search or Today's Matches. Reach for it when:

  • You found a specific role you care about and want to apply right now.
  • You're browsing and want full control over exactly which jobs go out.
  • You want to apply to something Autopilot's filters might not have surfaced.

You'll need a reasonably complete profile, a default resume, and a connected email source for verification codes. Learn more in How Quick Apply works.

When to use Autopilot

Autopilot continuously finds matching jobs and applies on your behalf on a schedule. It's the better fit when:

  • You want consistent daily volume without opening each listing.
  • You're happy to set your roles, locations, and preferences once and let Aplyr run.
  • You want applications to keep going while you're busy or offline.

Autopilot offers two modes: Review Queue, where you approve each job before it submits, and Fully Automated, where it submits on its own. See Review Queue vs Fully Automated mode.

πŸ’‘ Tip New to Autopilot? Start in Review Queue so you can see exactly what it would apply to, then switch to Fully Automated once you're comfortable with the matches.

How they work together

Quick Apply and Autopilot aren't either/or β€” they share the same foundation, so improving one helps the other:

  • Both pull from the same profile, default resume, and connected email source.
  • Both spend credits the same way β€” roughly one credit per submission, and failed submissions are refunded.
  • Every application from either tool lands in your Tracker, so all your activity stays in one place.

A common setup is to let Autopilot keep a steady stream of applications going in the background while you Quick Apply the standout roles you really want.

πŸ“Œ Note Both tools draw from the same credit balance and respect the same daily application limit, which resets at UTC midnight. If you run out of credits, Autopilot auto-pauses β€” you can still Quick Apply once you top up. See Daily limits, credits, and pausing.

Good to know

  • Higher plans grant more monthly credits and a higher daily Autopilot limit. Check your current allowance on the Billing page.
  • You can pause Autopilot anytime; your filters and preferences are saved for next time.
  • If something isn't submitting from either tool, walk through Quick Apply or Autopilot didn't work β€” what to check.
