Autopilot Filters and Preferences
Tune which jobs Autopilot applies to: categories, experience, job type, locations, remote policy, salary floor, excluded companies, and which resume it uses.

- Autopilot only applies to jobs that match your filters — the tighter your filters, the more targeted (and fewer) the applications.
- Set everything from one place: open Configure on the Autopilot page.
- There's no save button — every change auto-saves and applies on the next run.
How to set your Autopilot filters
- Go to Autopilot and click Configure to open the configuration panel.
- Pick the Resume at the top — this is required before Autopilot can run.
- Choose a Mode: Review Queue (you approve each job) or Fully Automated (Aplyr submits for you).
- Set your Daily Application Limit and the per-employer caps.
- Narrow the job pool with Categories, Experience, Job Type, Remote Policy, Locations, and Minimum Salary.
- Add any companies you never want to apply to under Excluded Companies.
Configuration saves automatically as you make changes. You'll see a Saved indicator confirm each change.

Targeting which jobs get queued
These filters decide what Autopilot will even consider. Leave any of them empty to apply no filter on that dimension.
- Categories — the job functions to target (e.g. Engineering, Marketing). No selection means all categories.
- Experience — seniority bands like Internship, Junior, Mid, Senior, Staff. No selection means all levels.
- Job Type — the employment structure: full-time, part-time, contract, internship, and more. This is separate from experience, so you can combine them (e.g. Senior + Contract).
- Remote Policy — Any, Remote, Hybrid, or On-site.
- Minimum Salary — skips jobs that list pay below your floor. Jobs with no listed salary are still considered.
- Excluded Companies — add any employer here and Autopilot will never apply to them (useful for your current company or places you've already applied directly).
Locations: restrict vs. rank
Add the cities or countries you care about under Locations. How strictly they're enforced depends on one toggle:
- Only these locations off (default) — Aplyr limits to the matching countries and ranks your preferred cities higher. Remote and other in-country roles still come through. This keeps your pool wide.
- Only these locations on — a hard filter. Only jobs in the exact locations you listed get queued.
💡 Tip Start with the toggle off. A hard city filter narrows the pool a lot — turn it on only if you're getting matches in places you can't take.
Volume controls: limits and per-employer caps
These keep Autopilot from spending your whole day's budget in one place:
- Daily Application Limit — the most applications Autopilot submits per day. It's capped by your plan and resets at UTC midnight.
- Max per Company — how many different roles Autopilot picks from a single employer per run. Set to 0 for unlimited.
- Max Locations per Role — when the same role is posted in several cities, Aplyr keeps your top matches by location instead of applying to every variant.
Resume and matching
The Resume you pick at the top is the one Autopilot submits — and the basis for tailoring when enabled. You'll need at least one resume in Documents first.
- Use resume in matching — scores jobs against your resume so matches lean toward your background. Turn it off if your resume is stale and hurting results.
- Keywords to bias matches — add up to 10 terms to nudge Autopilot toward roles you want.
- Tailor resume per job — generates a job-specific resume before submitting (available on higher plans).
📌 Note Autopilot won't run without a selected resume. If you remove or change yours, re-open Configure and pick one to resume applying.
Re-sync from Job Preferences
When you first turn on Autopilot, your filters are seeded from your saved job preferences (categories, locations, remote policy, experience, and salary floor). If you've since updated those preferences and want Autopilot to match, click Re-sync from Job Preferences at the bottom of the panel and confirm.
⚠️ Warning Re-syncing overwrites the matching filters in Autopilot with your Job Preferences. Autopilot-only settings like your daily limit and excluded companies are preserved, but any custom filter tweaks you made here will be replaced.
Good to know
- Filters apply on the next run, not retroactively — anything already in your queue stays put.
- Leaving a filter empty is the same as "no filter" for that field — it doesn't disable Autopilot.
- If Autopilot isn't finding jobs, your filters may be too tight. Loosen locations or experience first.
