- Pick how Aplyr reaches you (in-app bell, desktop banner, sound) in one place, then fine-tune what you're notified about per type.
- Send a Test on any notification to confirm it lands where you expect.
- Snooze everything for a few hours, or reset to recommended defaults anytime.
All your notification controls live on the Notifications settings page. Changes save automatically as you make them.
How to set up your notifications
- Go to Settings → Notifications.
- At the top, make sure the master toggle reads Active. If it shows Off, switch it on to start receiving notifications again.
- In the Channels card, choose how you want to be reached: In-app bell, Desktop banner, and Sound. These are your global channels.
- Under What you're notified about, expand a category (for example Applications you submit) to see each notification type.
- For any type, use its toggle to turn it on or off, click the channel chips to pick which channels it uses, and hit Test to send yourself a sample.
Channels: how you're reached
Channels decide the delivery method, not whether a given event notifies you. You set those per type in the categories below.
- In-app bell — alerts in the notification bell and in-app messages. We recommend keeping this on.
- Desktop banner — system notifications while Aplyr is open in your browser. The first time you enable it, click Request browser permission and allow notifications.
- Sound — plays a chime when new in-app notifications arrive. Click Preview to hear it (this also unlocks sound for the rest of your session).
⚠️ Warning If your browser has blocked notifications, the Desktop banner channel won't work until you re-enable them in your browser's site settings. For Gmail-related warnings, see Fixing "Reconnect Gmail" warnings.
What you're notified about
Each notification type sits inside a category. Expand a category to fine-tune it:
- Applications you submit — submission successful, submission failed, and verification needed (a step we can't complete for you, like a captcha or two-factor code).
- Inbox classification — when a job-related email lands and Aplyr sorts it into your tracker (Applied, Assessment, Interview, Offer, Rejected, and more).
- Autopilot — when Autopilot queues new matches for your review or submission.
Inside each type, the chips show which channels carry it. A chip is only active when its matching global channel is on — if you click a chip whose channel is off, Aplyr nudges you to enable it in Channels first. Each row also shows when it was Last sent.

Sending a test notification
Want to confirm a notification reaches you? Expand its category and click Test on that row. Aplyr fires a sample so you can verify the bell, banner, or chime is working. If a test doesn't arrive, double-check that the type's toggle is on, the channels you expect are enabled, and notifications aren't snoozed.
Snoozing and quiet time
Need a break? Click Snooze at the top and choose a preset — 1 hour, 2 hours, Until 9 AM, or Until tomorrow. The status pill shows a live countdown, and notifications resume automatically when the timer ends. To turn them back on early, click End snooze.
📌 Note Snoozing pauses delivery temporarily without changing any of your toggles. To stop notifications entirely, switch the master toggle to Off instead.
A note on email
Aplyr's notifications are delivered in-app, as desktop banners, and as sounds. The product doesn't send a per-event email or a daily email digest for these alerts, so there's no email frequency to set here. To keep your applications tracked from your inbox instead, connect a source on the email sources page.
Good to know
💡 Tip Keep the In-app bell on as a reliable baseline, then add Desktop banner for time-sensitive alerts like Verification needed so you never miss a code-entry step.
📌 Note Restore your notification settings to Aplyr's recommended configuration anytime by clicking Reset to recommended defaults at the bottom of the page.
