Completing Your Profile

Fill in the profile fields that power job matching and let Quick Apply and Autopilot submit applications for you, and watch your completion meter fill up.

  • Your profile is the single source of truth Aplyr uses to match you to jobs and to fill out applications for you.
  • A handful of fields are required before Quick Apply and Autopilot can submit on your behalf — the rest are optional but improve your results.
  • The progress ring at the top of your profile shows how complete you are; aim for 100%.

Think of your profile as the answers Aplyr types into every application form so you don't have to. The more complete and accurate it is, the more jobs you'll match and the more applications can go through without a hitch.

How to complete your profile

  1. Go to Profile from the sidebar.
  2. Fill in Personal information — name, Email Address, and Phone Number. These are the basics every application needs.
  3. Add your mailing address under the same section — Street Address, City, State / Province, Postal Code, and Country. Many employers (especially Workday) reject applications without a full address.
  4. Upload a resume so Aplyr has a default to attach. See Uploading your first resume.
  5. Set your Work Authorization status and your salary expectation — these are common application questions.
  6. Add your Education and Work History so your background autofills cleanly.
  7. Open Job preferences to tell Aplyr what you're looking for. Everything saves automatically as you go.

💡 Tip The fastest way to fill out most of your profile is to upload your resume — Aplyr parses it and proposes your work and education history for you to confirm.

Required vs optional fields

Required fields are marked with a small badge next to their label and are the ones Aplyr needs before it can submit an application. At minimum, that means your name, email, phone, a resume, a complete mailing address, work authorization, and a salary expectation.

Everything else — your Professional links (LinkedIn, GitHub, portfolio), Additional Details, education, and work history — is optional, but filling it in means fewer applications get stuck on a question Aplyr can't answer.

📌 Note Aplyr only submits the fields each employer's form actually asks for. Completing optional fields never adds information to applications that don't request it.

How your profile powers matching and applying

Your Job preferences drive your match scores. The Categories & role types, locations, and salary you set are scored against every job to decide what shows up in Today's Matches and your search results. Vague preferences lead to noisy matches; specific ones surface the right jobs.

When you run Quick Apply or Autopilot, Aplyr reads from this same profile to answer the application form. If a required field is missing, Aplyr will prompt you to add it before it can submit.

The completion meter

The ring at the top of your profile turns your filled-in fields into a single % complete figure. As you add required details, the percentage climbs and the missing-field hint updates to point you at what's left. Reaching 100% means Quick Apply and Autopilot have everything they need to run smoothly.

⚠️ Warning An incomplete profile is the most common reason an application doesn't go through. If a submission fails, your profile is the first place to check — Aplyr refunds the credit for failed submissions, but a missing field will prevent submission until you fill it in.
