  • Connect Gmail from Integrations so Aplyr can auto-track your applications and read verification codes.
  • Use the Auto-classify toggle to decide whether Aplyr runs AI on new Gmail messages to detect job applications.
  • Disconnect anytime β€” and check back for the upcoming Calendar integration.

Connecting your email is what turns Aplyr from a job board into a system that quietly keeps your whole search up to date. This article walks you through connecting and disconnecting Gmail, what the per-source toggles do, and what's coming next with Calendar.

How to connect Gmail

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Integrations.
  2. Find the Gmail card under Email connections and click Connect.
  3. Follow the prompts to authorize Aplyr. When it's done, the card shows a green Connected pill and lists your connected address.
  4. Already have one Gmail connected? Click Add another to connect a second account (you can connect up to two).
πŸ’‘ Tip Gmail and your Aplyr Inbox can both be connected at the same time β€” Gmail for your personal mail, and the Aplyr Inbox for application-only mail. You then pick one as your verification source. See Connecting your email.

What Aplyr does with your Gmail

Once Gmail is connected, Aplyr watches for job-related messages so it can do two things automatically:

  • Auto-track applications β€” confirmation and interview emails are detected and threaded onto the matching application in your Tracker.
  • Read verification codes β€” when an ATS sends a one-time code during Quick Apply or Autopilot, Aplyr can read it and keep your submission moving.

Aplyr never sends email or modifies your inbox β€” it only reads to track your search. You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account permissions.

The Auto-classify toggle

On the connected Gmail card you'll see an Auto-classify toggle. When it's on, Aplyr runs AI on new Gmail messages to detect job applications and update your Tracker. Turn it off if you'd rather Aplyr stop classifying new mail.

You'll also find Store message bodies, which lets you read full, formatted emails inside the Tracker. It's off by default; when on, message bodies are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

πŸ“Œ Note Under Additional settings on the same page, you can also control Auto-track applications (create applications automatically from detected emails) and Extract verification codes. These apply across your connected sources.

How to disconnect Gmail

To remove a connected account, find it on the Gmail card and click Disconnect next to that address. If you have two accounts connected, the other one stays connected. Disconnecting stops Aplyr from reading that inbox β€” applications already tracked from it stay in your Tracker.

⚠️ Warning If you disconnect every email source, Quick Apply and Autopilot may not be able to read verification codes, which can cause submissions to stall. Keep at least one verification source connected. See Fixing "Reconnect Gmail" warnings.

Calendar (coming soon)

At the bottom of the Integrations page you'll see a Calendar card marked Coming soon. Once it's available, you'll be able to sync interviews and application deadlines straight to your calendar so nothing slips through the cracks. There's nothing to set up yet β€” the card is a preview of what's on the way.

Good to know

πŸ’‘ Tip Aplyr never uses your account sign-up email to read codes. It reads from your connected Gmail or your Aplyr Inbox β€” whichever you set as the preferred verification source.
πŸ“Œ Note Want to bring in applications you sent before connecting? After connecting Gmail you can scan your past mail β€” see Scanning Gmail for past applications.
