How to set a reminder from an email

When Aplyr detects a date in an email — like an interview time or an assessment deadline — it surfaces it as an action item in the message's AI summary. From there you can turn it into a reminder.

  1. Open the email in your Inbox and find the AI summary panel near the top of the message.
  2. Look for the detected event under the summary — for example an interview or deadline with its date and time.
  3. Click Remind me next to that event.
  4. You'll see a Reminder set confirmation. Aplyr handles the rest.

When you'll be notified

Once a reminder is set, Aplyr notifies you on a schedule leading up to the event — typically 3 days before, the day before, and the day of. If the event is less than three days away, the earlier nudges are skipped and you'll still get the closer ones. Reminders are delivered in-app, and you can control how you're notified from your notification settings.

💡 Tip You can only set a reminder for a time that's still in the future. If an event has already passed, the Remind me option won't create a reminder.

You don't have to file emails by hand. As messages arrive in your connected Gmail or your Aplyr Inbox, Aplyr reads each one and matches it to the right application in your Tracker — using details like the company name and role. When it finds a match, the email is linked automatically.

Linking does two helpful things:

  • The email threads onto the matching application in your Tracker, so its full history lives in one place.
  • Confirmation and interview emails can move an application's status forward (for example from Applied to Interview) so your pipeline stays current on its own.

When an email is linked, you'll see a small pill on the message that reads Linked to the company, followed by View in tracker. Click it to jump straight to that application's detail view in your Tracker — no searching required.

💡 Tip If an email wasn't linked automatically — or got matched to the wrong application — you can link it yourself from the message and Aplyr will thread it onto the correct one. See the application detail view for more.

A few things can keep an email from matching:

  • There's no application in your Tracker for that company yet — for example a recruiter reaching out cold. These often show up under the Recruiter Reachout status instead.
  • The sender or company name is hard to match to an existing application.
  • The email source isn't connected. Make sure your Gmail or Aplyr Inbox is set up so Aplyr can read incoming mail.
⚠️ Warning Aplyr only reads the email sources you connect for tracking. It never reads or tracks from your account sign-up email unless you've explicitly connected it as a source.
